Brothers hospitalised after beating

A farewell night celebration turned bloody on Saturday when two Penal brothers were chopped following an argument with a neighbour. Police said Suraj Barlo, 37, and his brother Sudesh Barlo, 59, both of Old Seebalack Trace, Rochard Road, Penal, suffered multiple chop wounds following the dispute at Ramroop Trace, Penal.

 

Reports state that around 9.30 pm, the brothers were liming outside the home of the wedding hosts when they had an argument with their alleged assailant. The assailant left and returned with a cutlass. He then chopped Suraj on his shoulder and face. Sudesh rushed to assist and was also dealt several blows with the flat side of the cutlass and ran off. Both men were taken to the Siparia Health Facility and transferred to San Fernando General Hospital. Suraj remains warded but Sudesh has been discharged.
