"We eh fraid you, Rowley. Rowley, we're coming for you." This was the warning from National Security Minister Jack Warner and Attorney General Anand Ramlogan yesterday at the pre-budget rally at Mid Centre Mall, Chaguanas. Warner said, "If you touch one, you touch all." To the end of his speech, Warner called for Ramlogan who locked arms with him and both said they were going nowhere. "We staying right here."
Warner played a soundtrack that he called "Let the truth be told" to the crowd's delight. It featured members of the Opposition voting in favour of the controversial Section 34 in Parliament. When it was Rowley's turn to vote, Warner shouted, "Wait! Wait! Ah want to hear Rowley's voice." Warner kept shouting: "Yessss. Yesssss. Yessss. Yessss!" Warner told the crowd that under the People's National Movement, police stations were "falling down and closing down left, right and centre."
"When you called the police, they had no vehicles to come to your rescue. Rising and rampant crime was the order of the day. Never ever forget the rampant corruption under the PNM." He said eight police stations were being refurbished and 5,000 SRPs were being recruited to help curb crime. He boasted that for the last 20 days there were no murders in Laventille, Warner praised Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar for her walkabout in Laventille, saying no other prime minister had done that out of an election season.
