A police constable and a stores clerk assigned to the Vehicle Maintenance Company (VMCOTT) have reappeared in court jointly charged with larceny. Stores clerk Fabian Seecharan and PC Andy Fraser were both charged for removing car parts totalling $14,668.07 from the VMCOTT compound at Beetham Gardens.
The two reappeared before magistrate Gloria Jasmath in the Port-of-Spain Eleventh Court last Thursday. Fraser remains out on $30,000 bail, while Seecharan also secured $25,000 bail. Seecharan was represented by attorney Fareed Ali and Fraser was represented by Reynold Waldropt.
It is alleged that on October 18 2011, the two stole eight batteries valued at $4,000, four sets of brake shoes valued at $415.68, 18 sets of disc pads valued at $1,031.78, three coil packs valued at $2,876.19, two thermostats valued at $296, 20 spark plugs valued at $318.60, and two ends valued at $810.56.
Although the matter had been set for trial on October 24, the magistrate agreed to adjourn it to November 5 for mention, as there were outstanding documents yet to be disclosed to the defence counsel.
