Ch­agua­nas may­or Or­lan­do Nages­sar sup­ports a month­ly al­lowance for mu­nic­i­pal po­lice of­fi­cers. Nages­sar, who at­tend­ed a mil­i­tary pa­rade to cel­e­brate the Ch­agua­nas Bor­ough Cor­po­ra­tion 21st an­niver­sary said it was un­fair that mu­nic­i­pal po­lice of­fi­cers were left out when spe­cial re­serve of­fi­cers were re­cent­ly grant­ed a $1,000 month­ly al­lowance.

Nages­sar al­so used the oc­ca­sion to ap­peal to the five MPs whose elec­toral dis­trict pass through the bor­ough to lob­by Cab­i­net to make Ch­agua­nas a city. Nages­sar said the bor­ough has ful­filled every cri­te­ria for city sta­tus.

Yes­ter­day's pa­rade, which was re­gard­ed as the largest ever held in Ch­agua­nas, was at­tend­ed by sev­er­al min­is­ters in­clud­ing Na­tion­al Se­cu­ri­ty Min­is­ter Jack Warn­er, Lo­cal Gov­ern­ment Min­is­ter Su­ruj Ram­bachan and Min­is­ter in the Min­istry of the En­vi­ron­ment and Wa­ter Re­sources, Ra­mona Ram­di­al.

The pa­rade be­gan at around 10 am at the Mon­trose Junc­tion. The may­or in­spect­ed the troops be­fore they marched to the bor­ough cor­po­ra­tion's head­quar­ters at Cum­ber­batch Street.
