Po­lice were up to late yes­ter­day in­ves­ti­gat­ing two mur­ders in St Joseph and Mor­vant which took the mur­der toll for the year to 333. In the first in­ci­dent, around 7.30 pm on Thurs­day, res­i­dents of Guarat­ta Vil­lage, Mara­cas Val­ley/St Joseph, re­port­ed hear­ing gun­shots. Po­lice re­spond­ed and af­ter a short search found a res­i­dent ly­ing in his front yard with gun­shot wounds to the chest and head.

He was tak­en to the Er­ic Williams Med­ical Sci­ences Com­plex in Mt Hope where he was pro­nounced dead on ar­rival. He was lat­er iden­ti­fied as 37-year-old Mar­lon Br­us­co. Br­us­co's mur­der has homi­cide de­tec­tives puz­zled as he was not a known felon and had no crim­i­nal record. ASPs Wor­rell and Ho­sein of the North­ern Di­vi­sion are con­tin­u­ing in­ves­ti­ga­tions.

Thir­ty min­utes af­ter Br­us­co's shoot­ing, homi­cide de­tec­tives were sum­moned again, this time to Laven­tille. Ac­cord­ing to po­lice re­ports, around 8 pm, of­fi­cers of the In­ter Agency Task Force (IATF), were pa­trolling Trin­i­ty Dri­ve in Mor­vant when they saw a man ly­ing in a track off the road­way.

They in­ves­ti­gat­ed and dis­cov­ered he bore mul­ti­ple stab wounds. He was pro­nounced dead at the scene by a dis­trict med­ical of­fi­cer (DMO). In­ves­ti­ga­tors said a small blood­stained screw­driv­er found near the man's body was lat­er ruled to be the mur­der weapon.

The man had not been iden­ti­fied up to late yes­ter­day. Po­lice said he had a Rasta­far­i­an hair­style, was ap­prox­i­mate­ly five-foot sev­en-inch­es tall and was clad in red shorts and a white vest. Supt John Daniel and de­tec­tives of the Mor­vant CID are ask­ing mem­bers of the pub­lic who may be able to iden­ti­fy the vic­tim to con­tact the Mor­vant Po­lice Sta­tion at 624-3737.
