Communication Minister Jamal Mohammed says he will be meeting with a delegation from the Trinidad and Tobago Publishers and Broadcasters Association (TTPBA) and the Media Association of Trinidad and Tobago (Matt) in a few days' time to discuss issues relating to the media and its relationship with the State.
A release said, "He is determined to maintain an excellent working relationship with the media. We (People's Partnership) may not always agree with all that is published or printed, but we will give our lives for you to have the freedom to express your opinion. The theory of the free press is not that the truth will be presented completely or perfectly in any one instance, but that the truth will emerge from free discussion."
Mohammed also said the government was committed to press freedom. Matt vice president Judy Raymond said: "This is the first time I?am hearing about such a meeting."
