Ramadhar: COP members free to join march today

Congress of the People leader Prakash Ramadhar says while he had not been informed of any senior officials of the party joining today’s protest march in Port-of-Spain, people were free to do so. At yesterday’s post-Cabinet briefing, Ramadhar said he could not say anything further on the Section 34 issue—one of the hot points of today’s march—beyond what the COP said in the parliamentary debate.

On the PNM’s reinforced calls for more government ministers to be fired over the issue, he said the Prime Minister had acted on the matter in a “manner never before seen, lifting the veil of Cabinet confidentiality,” and the COP also had “laid itself bare on the issue.”

Asked about the fact that the issue did not seem to be going away, Ramdahar said it could never be over if others wanted to continue to find out more. “But there is nothing I can add to it,” he added. Ramdahar said if others were pursuing more information that was their right.
