The le­gal fra­ter­ni­ty is hop­ing and pray­ing for the con­tin­ued re­cov­ery of in­jured Ap­peal Court judge Wen­dell Kan­ga­loo. In an in­ter­view, the ju­di­cia­ry's in­for­ma­tion and pro­to­col man­ag­er Jones P Madeira said Kan­ga­loo was still hos­pi­talised at the Re­ha­bil­i­ta­tion In­sti­tute of?Chica­go,?where he is un­der­go­ing phys­io­ther­a­py.

Madeira said since he last spoke with Kan­ga­loo's rel­a­tives, he had had ad­di­tion­al surgery. He said Kan­ga­loo had en­coun­tered some chal­lenges but was im­prov­ing. Madeira added: "News out of Chica­go last week was that with the ad­di­tion­al surgery, every­one was quite op­ti­mistic and hope­ful about his con­tin­ued re­cov­ery."

Kan­ga­loo, 56, of West­moor­ings, was in­jured in an ac­ci­dent on May 20 in Trinci­ty when a car slammed in­to his SUV on the Churchill-Roo­sevelt High­way. Af­ter be­ing hos­pi­talised at the In­ten­sive Care Unit, Er­ic Williams Med­ical Sci­ences Com­plex, Mt Hope, he was flown to the Johns Hop­kins Hos­pi­tal in Bal­ti­more, Mary­land, USA, for fur­ther spe­cial­ist care on May 25.

Kan­ga­loo, who was act­ing Chief Jus­tice at the time, was on his way to the Ari­ma Race Club in San­ta Rosa to wit­ness ear­ly-morn­ing gal­lops.
