The legal fraternity is hoping and praying for the continued recovery of injured Appeal Court judge Wendell Kangaloo. In an interview, the judiciary's information and protocol manager Jones P Madeira said Kangaloo was still hospitalised at the Rehabilitation Institute of?Chicago,?where he is undergoing physiotherapy.
Madeira said since he last spoke with Kangaloo's relatives, he had had additional surgery. He said Kangaloo had encountered some challenges but was improving. Madeira added: "News out of Chicago last week was that with the additional surgery, everyone was quite optimistic and hopeful about his continued recovery."
Kangaloo, 56, of Westmoorings, was injured in an accident on May 20 in Trincity when a car slammed into his SUV on the Churchill-Roosevelt Highway. After being hospitalised at the Intensive Care Unit, Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex, Mt Hope, he was flown to the Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland, USA, for further specialist care on May 25.
Kangaloo, who was acting Chief Justice at the time, was on his way to the Arima Race Club in Santa Rosa to witness early-morning gallops.
