Freeport businessman Kenneth Nandoo remains warded at hospital after being shot by a robber. Nandoo, 52, of Chickland Road,?Freeport, was robbed of $20,000 and other valuables last night in the incident which happened outside his business place in Freeport.
Police said Nandoo was standing outside his mini-mart waiting for transport to go to the bank to make a deposit around 8.30 am when he was approached by a man wearing a ski mask. The man shot Nandoo twice in the right leg before and snatched a bag with cash, cheques and several pieces of jewelry. The robber then jumped into a Toyota Corolla car parked a short distance away. Residents saw what happened and took Nandoo to hospital.
Detectives from the Freeport Police Station responded and found the getaway car on Taitt Madhoo Trace. It was on fire. A 21-year-old suspect of Freeport was arrested. The man was assisting police with their investigations yesterday. Sergeant Andy Mohammed, assisted by Constable Wayne Antoine, is continuing investigations.
Superintendent Johnny Abraham urged businessmen to be aware of their surroundings when heading to the bank to make deposits. "They should fluctuate the hours they are going to the bank and be aware of their surroundings.?I understand that this man goes to the bank at a particular hour every Monday morning," Abraham said.
