Doc­tors give Kublals­ingh the OK

En­vi­ron­men­tal­ist Dr Wayne Kublals­ingh will have to wait at least a cou­ple more days be­fore he can eat his favourite meal of bha­gi and sa­da roti. Kublals­ingh made the re­quest when for­mer prime min­is­ter Bas­deo Pan­day vis­it­ed him two weeks ago while he and mem­bers of the High­way Re-Route Move­ment were protest­ing out­side the Of­fice of the Prime Min­is­ter, St Clair.

A?pho­to post­ed on Face­book yes­ter­day morn­ing showed Kublals­ingh eat­ing a man­go. The cap­tion said it was the first time he was eat­ing af­ter his 21-day hunger strike. He end­ed the hunger strike on Tues­day af­ter ac­cept­ing the terms of ref­er­ence de­cid­ed by the Joint Con­sul­ta­tive Coun­cil (JCC).

Kublals­ingh's health, how­ev­er, is still be­ing close­ly mon­i­tored by a team of med­ical per­son­nel. He was ad­mit­ted to the In­ten­sive Care Unit (ICU) of the St Clair Med­ical Cen­tre at 7 pm on Tues­day and was im­me­di­ate­ly giv­en in­tra­venous flu­ids.
