PNM leader Dr Keith Rowley says he is happy to place his political fortunes in the hands of Tobagonians in the January 21 Tobago House of Assembly (THA) election. "Whatever the result, I will take it," Rowley said at Sunday night's PNM rally at Buccoo Integrated Complex.
He said there were those who said his political stewardship was tied up with the outcome of the THA poll even though it was not a general election. Rowley was introduced at the rally as the "next Prime Minister of T&T." During his address slamming the PP administration, Rowley commented about a problem that he alleged the Prime Minister had, saying he was speaking of "people of substance."
He said Tobagonians could not let Tobago fall to people who were "all under question." Rowley said Tobagonians were getting the first opportunity to correct what was wrong in Trinidad and they should send a message that they did not want what existed there. He said after the THA poll came local government elections.
Urging Tobagonians to wipe out the "yellow fever," he said TOP was shown to be unsuitable to run Tobago by the PP company the TOP kept. "Don't let the yellow fever infect Tobago," he warned. Rowley said TOP leader Ashworth Jack could "say what he want," but the PP was all one group.
He said the MSJ left the PP, the COP always complained about issues and NAJC's leader's "mouth slipped" and he had spoken of problems but the TOP didn't speak out about any issues. Rowley and other PNM speakers repeatedly urged PNMites to come out in their numbers to vote on January 21. He said in the 80s the PNM almost lost the Scarborough seat by one vote.
