The North West Regional Health Authority (NWRHA) has apologised to its monthly-paid workers for unpaid arrears on their allowances. The NWRHA gave the apology in a press release yesterday afternoon, the day after a group of employees and their union's representatives protested outside the Ministry of Health.
The release said: "Arrears on allowances have been quantified, audited and funds have been released from the ministry to effect payment. "However, the NWRHA awaits the written approval from the Chief Personnel Officer (CPO) in order to execute at the earliest possible date."
The authority said it had paid new salaries and Cola to all monthly-paid employees according to the Memorandum of Understanding between the CPO and the Public Services Association (PSA) for the period January 1, 2008 to December 31, 2010. "We are bound by administrative and regulatory processes that we must comply with prior to any payments being made," the release added.
