National Security Minster Jack Warner has branded the T&T media "intrusive" and challenged reporters to probe the bank accounts of Tobago House of Assembly's (THA) Finance Secretary Dr Anselm London.
Warner said on Wednesday that while the PNM section of the THA had raised issues over a house owned by Tobago Organisation of the People (TOP) leader Ashworth Jack, the real question was how London was able to purchase a home in Signal Hill for $2 million and after a mere two years, owed the bank less than $100,000.
He told reporters at the Felicity Presbyterian School that such an investigation was more relevant than Jack's private documents on his multi-million-dollar house in Hillsborough, Mt St George. He added: "You go Signal Hill and see where London is living. Ask him what is the cost. Ask him how much he paid for it and ask him what is his present balance in Scotiabank. You ask him that, you guys in the media. You all of course are very intrusive, and quite rightly so."
Warner said the PNM was trying to ridicule Jack for working hard and that was unacceptable. He said the deals and land tradings, such as the Scarborough Library and the Tobago Financial Complex, should be scrutinised after eight years of the PNM-led THA.
He said throughout these PNM ventures, Jack was not involved in any and never had acess to public funds. "What is the big deal about Jack's house? I?am told that there is one member of the assembly, and I'll say this on the platform too, has six houses being rented now in Tobago.
