Union, Bestcrete settle on nine per cent hike

The management of Brick Force (makers of Bestcrete blocks) has announced settlement of negotiations on behalf of its daily paid workers with the recognised majority union, the National Union of Government and Federated Workers (NUGFW).
 
The negotiations represent the commitment of both parties to have constructive discussions on employee terms and conditions of employment. 
 
The new agreement provides for the following wage increases: 
• Year 1 — 1/1/12 – 31/12/12 — one per cent
• Year 2 — 1/1/13 – 31/12/13 — four per cent
• Year 3 — 1/1/14 – 31/12/14—  four per cent
 
“In this regard, we wish to reiterate our commitment to the principles of good industrial relations, good-faith collective bargaining and the establishment of fair and competitive wages for our employees,” company officials said in a statement.
