Caribbean Airlines is monitoring a powerful winter storm blamed for 15 deaths in various parts of the United States.

The storm, which was this afternoon bringing rain and snow to the north-east United States, slowed down commuters flying home from holiday visits with family.

By noon, the precipitation had stopped in parts of Pennsylvania and New Jersey, though rain continued in Massachusetts and snow continued to fall in upstate New York, New Hampshire, Maine and Vermont.
