The body of a Carapichaima man was discovered along the shore of Carli Bay, Couva, on New Year's Day. While foul play was not suspected in the death of 37-year-old Deonarine Ramjit of Orange Valley, police said they were awaiting the findings of an autopsy before continuing with their investigation.
Police said around noon, two fishermen were casting their nets a short distance away from shore when they noticed Ramjit's body lying face down in the sand, clad only a pair of black short pants. Couva Police were contacted and the body was later identified with the help of Ramjit's relatives who believed he went to take a bath and experienced difficulties in the water.
No signs of violence were found on Ramjit's body. Cpl Radhikissoon is continuing enquiries.
