700 apply for municipal police jobs (with CNC3 video)

Only 79 people would be selected to fill posts of municipal police officers from the more than 700 applicants who turned out for a recruitment exercise yesterday. From as early as 7 am job seekers from various parts of the country turned up at the offices of the Chaguanas Municipal Police to be interviewed and screened.
Mayor Orlando Nagessar, who is also the head of the T&T Association of Local Government Authorities, said this was a positive development since most regional bodies had clamoured over the years to get additional municipal police officers. Nagessar said the Chaguanas Borough Corporation hopes to get some from this batch to complement the ten officers assigned to the Chaguanas Municipal Station.
He also called for retraining of officers so they could be on par with their colleagues in the T&T Police Service. Rosanna Joseph, who travelled from Toco to apply for the job, said she wanted to be a municipal police officer since she wants to protect and serve.
