There will be no water worries for residents in the northern parts of T&T during the Water and Sewerage Authority's (WASA) shutdown of a desalination plant says the authority's communications manager Ellen Lewis.
In a telephone interview yesterday, Lewis said despite prior information that areas of north Trinidad would be affected, the shutdown would only affect residents of south and central Trinidad."The areas in the North will only be affected if there is a reduction in output from the Caroni Water Treatment Plant," Lewis added.
She said WASA did not forsee a drop in production at the Caroni plant.Asked whether customers whose accounts were unpaid would be able to access truck-borne water, Lewis said it was an opportunity for them to bring their accounts in order.
"Our objective will be to ensure our customers are provided with a truck-borne service where for any reason their schedules were not met," she added.WASA advised the public the shutdown would result in temporary schedules in areas such as Chaguanas, Carapichaima and San Fernando.
The authority released on Sunday a list of areas to be affected.A temporary supply schedule can be found on the authority's Web site.
