Police probe reports of two rapes in South
Police are investigating the rape of two young girls in Moruga and San Fernando. In the first instance, a 12-year-old New Grant student told police that while she was living with her father in Moruga, her step-brother and cousin had sexual intercourse with her.
The girl later confided in her mother who took her to the Rio Claro police. The police later referred the matter to the Moruga police. Investigators said they expect to lay charges.
In another incident, a 16-year-old girl of St John’s Village, San Fernando, also told police that between the period of February to June, she engaged in sexual intercourse with her 19-year-old boyfriend. The boyfriend is expected to be charged with statutory rape.
