Web site is not mine, says Orville
As Tobagonians take to the poll today, incumbent Chief Secretary of the Tobago House of Assembly (THA) Orville London is considering his legal options after he said a Web site was created without his permission or knowledge. The Web site’s address orvillelondon.com was set up earlier this month and showed an illustration of London and also reportedly posted negative comments about London’s leadership of the THA.
Contacted yesterday, London who described the issue as “a threat to democracy,” said it also reflected a lack of respect for integrity and morality. “Where is it going to stop? If they do things like this where is it going to stop? I have not created any Web site and I am really concerned about that development,” London said.
Calling on those in public life to understand the implications of such a matter London said it would only lead to destruction of the country’s democracy. London said he did not know who created the Web site but said he would have the matter investigated. “I am going to have this investigated both from a technical and legal perspective. If actions have to be taken I would definitely take the action.
“I have to do all in my power and I am certain I will get the support of all right thinking officials to have this stopped. The people who are guilty to doing things like that must be punished to the very extent of the law,” London said. He said he had no problem being judged by what he said or did but was forced to be concerned when a negative impression was created of him.
