A San­ta Cruz gar­den­er was killed yes­ter­day af­ter an ar­gu­ment with two broth­ers who he ac­cused of steal­ing pep­pers from his gar­den. At around 1pm yes­ter­day 76-year-old gar­den­er Clyde Thomas left his house and ap­proached the home of his neigh­bours. There, he con­front­ed the two broth­ers about steal­ing pep­pers from his gar­den. The ar­gu­ment got heat­ed and the men went in­to their homes.

Po­lice said they re­turned mo­ments lat­er with cut­lass­es and at­tacked Thomas, chop­ping him sev­er­al times about his body. Thomas' rel­a­tives took him to Port-of-Spain Gen­er­al Hos­pi­tal where he was pro­nounced dead.
