Peo­ple's Part­ner­ship MP Anil Roberts, con­grat­u­lat­ing the PNM on its To­ba­go vic­to­ry, has warned Peo­ple's Na­tion­al Move­ment that "the Cham­pi­ons' League" is soon com­ing with "a high­er lev­el of com­pe­ti­tion." Roberts was one of sev­er­al gov­ern­ment mem­bers who con­grat­u­lat­ed the PNM dur­ing yes­ter­day's Sen­ate ses­sion as they an­swered ques­tions on the ear­ly part of the agen­da.

Yes­ter­day in the Sen­ate, PNM sen­a­tors were all dressed or ac­ces­sorised in red fol­low­ing the PNM's 12-seat de­feat of the To­ba­go Or­gan­i­sa­tion of the Peo­ple in the THA polls on Mon­day. Roberts, in the Sen­ate to an­swer an Op­po­si­tion ques­tion, be­gan by con­grat­u­lat­ing the PNM.

Roberts said: "It was a trounc­ing, and well done over there. I must say con­grat­u­la­tions. But I must al­so re­mind them that they've now qual­i­fied and they've won the Caribbean T20 and the Cham­pi­ons' League is soon com­ing. That's a high­er lev­el of com­pe­ti­tion!"

Fol­low­ing suit was Trade Min­is­ter Stephen Cadiz, who was al­so present to an­swer an Op­po­si­tion ques­tion. Cadiz said: "Main­ly be­cause tourism forms a great part of To­ba­go's econ­o­my, I've al­ready writ­ten THA chief sec­re­tary Orville Lon­don seek­ing a meet­ing on tourism to see how we could move for­ward and see how we'll col­lab­o­rate and how to build tourism in To­ba­go."

Fi­nance Min­is­ter Lar­ry Howai al­so said, "I'd like to ex­tend con­grat­u­la­tions to the oth­er side for the events of Mon­day Jan­u­ary 21, and my best wish­es to the THA in the gov­er­nance process in the next few years."

At Tues­day's House of Rep­re­sen­ta­tives ses­sion, the day af­ter the PNM's his­toric THA elec­tion vic­to­ry, min­is­ters in­clud­ing House leader Roodal Mooni­lal, Na­tion­al Se­cu­ri­ty Min­is­ter Jack Warn­er and Labour Min­is­ter Er­rol McLeod, who an­swered ques­tions on that day's agen­da, did not ex­tend sim­i­lar con­grat­u­la­tions to the PNM MPs.
