Pris­ons Com­mis­sion­er Mar­tin Mar­tinez is as­sur­ing that there isn't an out­break of chick­en pox at the Port-of-Spain and Gold­en Grove pris­ons. He con­firmed to CNC3 news yes­ter­day that at least 50 pris­on­ers had con­tract­ed the dis­ease but could not say how.

Mar­tinez said in­fect­ed pris­on­ers will not be tak­en to court on Mon­day and al­ter­na­tive arrange­ments will be made for their mat­ters to be heard. He said pris­ons' of­fi­cials were mak­ing every ef­fort to con­trol the spread of the con­ta­gious dis­ease by mov­ing pris­on­ers in­to iso­lat­ed ar­eas. Mar­tinez as­sured it was not an epi­dem­ic, say­ing it was man­age­able.
