Prisons Commissioner Martin Martinez is assuring that there isn't an outbreak of chicken pox at the Port-of-Spain and Golden Grove prisons. He confirmed to CNC3 news yesterday that at least 50 prisoners had contracted the disease but could not say how.
Martinez said infected prisoners will not be taken to court on Monday and alternative arrangements will be made for their matters to be heard. He said prisons' officials were making every effort to control the spread of the contagious disease by moving prisoners into isolated areas. Martinez assured it was not an epidemic, saying it was manageable.
