A 60-year-old man who claimed he went to buy cocaine for a woman he was going to have an affair with, was jailed for four months on Wednesday.Gabriel Babwah, of Lower Hillside, San Fernando, said he was returning to the woman with the cocaine when he was arrested.
He pleaded guilty before San Fernando Sixth Court Magistrate Lisa Ramsumair-Hinds.Police prosecutor Sgt Krishna Bedasie said around 7.30 am on Tuesday, PC George stopped Babwah, who was riding a bicycle. The cocaine, 0.6 grammes, was found in his hand, Bedasie said.
Babwah claimed he and the woman were going to have an affair and she sent him for the drugs.The magistrate said she had heard of women selling themselves short and asking for KFC, but never for cocaine.
Babwah had five previous convictions for similar offences.
