The mur­der toll climbed to 39 yes­ter­day af­ter a 22-year-old man was killed in a gang-re­lat­ed shoot­ing in Laven­tille.Ac­cord­ing to re­ports, around 1.45 pm res­i­dents of Dan Kel­ly Vil­lage, Laven­tille, re­port­ed hear­ing gun­shots.They checked and found Do­ri­an "Tiger" Weekes, of Nel­son Street, Port-of-Spain, ly­ing be­tween two hous­es.

Weekes had sev­er­al gun­shot wounds to the head.In­ves­ti­ga­tors be­lieve Weekes was walk­ing along the road to meet a friend who lived near­by when he was lured in­to the yard by his at­tack­ers.The oc­cu­pants of the two hous­es where Weekes was found told po­lice they did not see the gun­men be­cause they were too fright­ened to look out­side af­ter hear­ing the gun­shots.

Homi­cide de­tec­tives said Weekes was a known gang mem­ber in his com­mu­ni­ty and might have been killed by a ri­val gang from Laven­tille.An au­top­sy will be done on his body at the Foren­sic Sci­ence Cen­tre in St James to­day.In­sp Sa­hadeo Singh and Cpl Charles Bu­drie vis­it­ed the scene and are in­ves­ti­gat­ing.
