The day after promoter Anthony Young's application for an occasional licence to host D'Original Vale Breakfast Party was dismissed, attorney Keith Scotland filed an appeal in the Court of Appeal yesterday. It is not yet known if an alternative venue will be sought in time for the party or if ticket-holders will receive a refund.
The party was set to take place on Carnival Sunday night at Amethyst Park, Diamond Vale.On Tuesday, head of the Licensing Committee and senior magistrate at the Port-of-Spain Magistrates Court, Annette Mc Kenzie, broke the party's 19-year-old tradition when she dismissed Young's application on the basis the venue was unsuitable.
Although Mc Kenzie blanked Young, she granted Colin Miles an occasional licence to host the Sunny Side Up Breakfast Party at the St Michael's Parish Hall, Wendy Fitzwilliam Boulevard, Diamond Vale, on the same day.Seeking a hearing by today, Scotland said Young was hoping the order would be rescinded.
