Caribbean Airlines (CAL) chairman Rabindra Moonan has promised that the airline will pull out all stops to ensure that tourists, foreigners and Trinidadians living in the United States arrive in time for Carnival.
In a flight advisory yesterday, CAL stated that they had resumed flights into and out of New York's JFK International Airport, following the cancellation of several flights on Thursday due a major snowstorm affecting New York.
Hundreds of Trinidadians and tourists living in the United States seeking to come to T&T for the start of Carnival activities were stranded, with many venting their feelings on a social network about the airline's closure.
Moonan said the airline was operating according to its ten scheduled flights posted on CAL's Web site and Facebook account yesterday.
He could not say if there were long lines or delays in flights at JFK.
"I have no information on that...I would assume, based on my last conversation with them (JFK) that everything is operating smoothly."
Moonan said it was unfortunate that Trinidadians living in the United States who were trying to come home for Carnival were left stranded for several hours.
"We have pulled out all stops to make it possible. By tomorrow (today) everybody should be back to normal in Trinidad...who are booked to come here. We are ensuring that no one is left back."
Moonan could not say how many passengers from JFK were scheduled to arrive in T&T over the weekend.
"If you take an average of 150 to 160 passengers per flight. We had four or five flights per day. Let's say 700 passengers per day."
