Port-of-Spain mayor Louis Lee Sing is calling for a full investigation from acting Police Commissioner Stephen Williams after claims that two officers of the Port-of-Spain City Corporation were manhandled by police officers on Carnival Tuesday. The incident reportedly occurred outside City Hall, Knox Street.
"When the national police did not have their way, they manhandled our officers...they jacked-up one of our senior officers against a wall and bent his hand."When another one of our officers attempted to walk away from his aggressor who was another police officer, that officer pulled his jersey and hit the baton several times in his chest," Lee Sing said.
Describing such behaviour as unacceptable, Lee Sing added it could not be condoned.Speaking at a press briefing held yesterday at the National Security building at Abercromby Street, Port-of-Spain, Deputy Police Commissioner Raymond Craig said the matter was under investigation.
