The lo­cal chap­ter of the Roy­al Com­mon­wealth So­ci­ety (RCS) has con­grat­u­lat­ed pres­i­dent-elect An­tho­ny Car­mona. In a state­ment yes­ter­day, the so­ci­ety's lo­cal rep­re­sen­ta­tive, Bindra Dols­ingh, con­grat­u­lat­ed Car­mona on be­half of pa­tron Her Majesty Queen Eliz­a­beth II and mem­bers of the Com­mon­wealth coun­tries.

The state­ment said Car­mona's ap­point­ment "her­alds the tri­umph of a son of the soil in this forg­ing democ­ra­cy as the Head of State and as Her Majesty's Com­mon­wealth rep­re­sen­ta­tive in the Com­mon­wealth fam­i­ly of na­tions." Dols­ingh's said Car­mona's even­ness, in­de­pen­dence and re­lent­less con­cerns for the na­tion's youth was well demon­strat­ed.

It said the ap­point­ment "brings hap­pi­ness at Com­mon­wealth House of Lon­don in this post-colo­nial era."
