Musician Curtis Lewis appeared in court yesterday charged with murdering his wife in a Chaguanas church two weeks ago. The 55-year-old Lewis, who married Fabiola Ramona Chacon, 36, on Christmas Day last year, appeared before Magistrate Gillian David-Scotland in the Chaguanas Magistrates Court.
It is alleged that Lewis stabbed Chacon in the washroom of the Apostles' Ministries at Amarsingh Street, Longdenville, on January 24. The couple had gone there for counselling. Days later Lewis, who lives at Belgrade Street, East Dry River, Port-of-Spain, and Valsayn, was admitted to the Port-of-Spain General Hospital.
He was also treated for a stab wound to the abdomen. Lewis remained under police guard and on his discharge from hospital last week Friday he was taken to the Chaguanas Police Station. On Thursday, he was charged by WPC Paulette Elcock. Lewis was represented by attorney Fareed Ali and was remanded to reappear in court on March 15.
