Villagers of Chickland, Caparo, yesterday joined police in a massive search for an 81-year-old granny who went missing after walking out of her house to dump garbage.Wiping away tears, the friends and family of Rosie Ramoutar, of Chickland, trekked through bushes up to late yesterday in a desperate attempt to find her. Ramoutar was actively involved in church and community activities but began suffering from Alzheimer's, according to a family source.
A team of officers from the Canine Unit as well as Central Division Task Force officers led by Supt Johnny Abraham assisted in the search.Police said Ramoutar was last seen cleaning her yard. She walked across the road to dump garbage but was never seen again. When she failed to return home on Saturday night, the relatives lodged a missing person report at the Brasso Police Station.
Prayer vigils were held in the Chickland churches for her safe return. Anyone with information on Ramoutar's whereabouts can contact Crime Stoppers at 800-TIPS.
