A 29-year-old Cepep operator was granted $250,000 bail when he appeared in court charged with ammunition possession. Joel David Noray, of Marcano Quarry, Laventille, was arrested on February 20 by officers of the Inter Agency Task Force.
He was charged by PC Mundoo after he was found with a quantity of ammunition and a fully loaded magazine at his apartment at Marcano Quarry.Standing before Magistrate Melvin Daniel in the Port-of-Spain Fourth Court on Wednesday, Noray was not called upon to plea as the charges were laid indictably and Sgt Stanley Joseph offered no recommendations in relation to each offence.
With no prior convictions or pending matters, Noray was granted bail in the amount of $250,000 with a surety to be approved by a clerk of the peace.He also was ordered to report to the Besson Street Police Station twice weekly and will reappear on March 21.
In a separate matter before Magistrate Christine Charles in the Fifth Court, student Akeem Awong was also granted bail for arms and ammunition possession.Awong, 19, a Form Five student of the Mucurapo Senior Comprehensive School, was arrested on February 17 in Mucurapo when he was held with a gun and six rounds of ammunition.
Represented by attorney Criston Williams, Awong, of Covigne Road, Diego Martin, was not called upon to plea as the charges were laid indictably.With no previous convictions, he was granted $40,000 bail after the court approved his mother, Paula Ashe, as the surety.He will reappear on March 22 in the Fourth Court.
