Residents of Penal will get a new state-of-the- art library soon said Stacy Roopnarine, the Oropouche West MP. In a media release Roopnarine said she and officials from the National Library and Information Systems Authority (Nalis) toured the proposed site on Tuesday. She said the its construction in the area was timely since she had been lobbying Nalis for the facility for over a year. Roopnarine said she was pleased that a site had been identified and agreed on.

She said the benefits to having a library include “persons having access to a wide range of reference materials; having isolated focus for a number of students who may want to study and having access to multiple computers.” Roopnarine said the site at Ramjohn Avenue, Penal, was ideally situated between the Dayanand Memorial Vedic School and the Penal Presbyterian School, which would allow students from the primary schools to also benefit from the library.
