A three-year-old boy died when a metal gate fell on him on Tuesday evening in Couva. Zuri Waleed Singh of Railway Road, Dow Village, California suffered head injuries and was pronounced dead on arrival at the Couva District Health Facility around 5.40 pm.
According to reports, the little boy, who attended Country Lane Kindergarten at Mc Bean, Couva, had gone to Thalia Road, Roystonia Gardens around 5 pm with his parents Reesha Mohammed-Singh and Durvijay Singh.
Singh, a 36-year-old technician, told police he had recently bought a house there and went to check on the repairs being done on it. Police said as Singh and his wife entered the yard, they heard a crash and found Zuri unconscious and pinned under a steel gate.
He was taken to the health facility but doctors told his parents he had already died of severe head trauma. PC Phillips of the Couva police is investigating.
