Members of the Guard and Emergency Branch and Central Task Force swooped down on the Chaguanas Magistrates' Court yesterday morning responding to a fracas involving knife-wielding prisoners. Police sources said no one was injured but a police sergeant came close to being stabbed when he intervened.
Police said three of them, armed with makeshift knives, tried to stab two other prisoners who are brothers. The T&T Guardian was told that the brothers had threatened to kill the girlfriend of one of the three others. The sergeant and other officers quickly intervened and were able to prevent any bloodshed.
