Mem­bers of the Guard and Emer­gency Branch and Cen­tral Task Force swooped down on the Ch­agua­nas Mag­is­trates' Court yes­ter­day morn­ing re­spond­ing to a fra­cas in­volv­ing knife-wield­ing pris­on­ers. Po­lice sources said no one was in­jured but a po­lice sergeant came close to be­ing stabbed when he in­ter­vened.

Po­lice said three of them, armed with makeshift knives, tried to stab two oth­er pris­on­ers who are broth­ers. The T&T Guardian was told that the broth­ers had threat­ened to kill the girl­friend of one of the three oth­ers. The sergeant and oth­er of­fi­cers quick­ly in­ter­vened and were able to pre­vent any blood­shed.
