The T&T Sol­id Waste Man­age­ment Com­pa­ny Lim­it­ed (SWM­COL) says the fires which broke out at the For­res Park and Beetham land­fills last week have been ex­tin­guished com­plete­ly.In two sep­a­rate press re­leas­es is­sued yes­ter­day, SWM­COL said it wished to in­form the gen­er­al pub­lic that the fires were "now 100 per cent ex­tin­guished".

It said the sit­u­a­tion at the Beetham land­fill site was no longer deemed to be a se­ri­ous threat. The com­pa­ny said it re­gret­ted the in­con­ve­nience caused by the For­res Park land­fill fire and urged af­fect­ed com­mu­ni­ty mem­bers to seek help if nec­es­sary. It said in­di­vid­u­als in need of as­sis­tance could con­tact SWM­COL's com­mu­ni­ca­tion spe­cial­ist Al­i­son Awai, the Cou­va/Tal­paro/Tabaquite Re­gion­al Cor­po­ra­tion or the Red Cross.

SWM­COL al­so thanked its sup­port ser­vices stake­hold­ers in­clud­ing the Min­istry of Lo­cal Gov­ern­ment, the T&T Fire Ser­vice, the Of­fice of Dis­as­ter Pre­pared­ness and Man­age­ment (ODPM) and the En­vi­ron­men­tal Man­age­ment Au­thor­i­ty (EMA) for their as­sis­tance in deal­ing with the fires.The re­lease said Awai can be con­tact­ed at: 473-7006 or aawai@swm­col.co.tt
