The University of the West Indies St Augustine campus has sent its congratulations to President-elect Anthony Carmona, who will assume office on March 18.UWI said: "The Faculty of Law and the entire university community are very proud of this appointment. This is the second consecutive appointment to the highest office in the land of a person who has deep ties to the University of the West Indies. We wish him the best for a productive term."
President George Maxwell Richards is a former principal of the St Augustine campus. The President-elect has two degrees from UWI, in English and international law and politics.He also taught language and linguistics there from 1981 to 1983 and was later a senior tutor in politics in the Department of Government for four years.
