The Uni­ver­si­ty of the West In­dies St Au­gus­tine cam­pus has sent its con­grat­u­la­tions to Pres­i­dent-elect An­tho­ny Car­mona, who will as­sume of­fice on March 18.UWI said: "The Fac­ul­ty of Law and the en­tire uni­ver­si­ty com­mu­ni­ty are very proud of this ap­point­ment. This is the sec­ond con­sec­u­tive ap­point­ment to the high­est of­fice in the land of a per­son who has deep ties to the Uni­ver­si­ty of the West In­dies. We wish him the best for a pro­duc­tive term."

Pres­i­dent George Maxwell Richards is a for­mer prin­ci­pal of the St Au­gus­tine cam­pus. The Pres­i­dent-elect has two de­grees from UWI, in Eng­lish and in­ter­na­tion­al law and pol­i­tics.He al­so taught lan­guage and lin­guis­tics there from 1981 to 1983 and was lat­er a se­nior tu­tor in pol­i­tics in the De­part­ment of Gov­ern­ment for four years.
