Lisa Dick­son is the new pres­i­dent of Ju­nior Cham­ber In­ter­na­tion­al (JCI), aka Jaycees.And less than a week since tak­ing up the po­si­tion, the Sco­tia­bank em­ploy­ee has al­ready made clear her fo­cus–sus­tain­able de­vel­op­ment for youths. She not­ed her theme for 2013 is One Per­son, One Ac­tion, One Or­gan­i­sa­tion ... Mak­ing a Dif­fer­ence.

In her ad­dress fol­low­ing her ap­point­ment, the 25-year-old St Au­gus­tine na­tive called on mem­bers of the or­gan­i­sa­tion to reach out to the youths of the na­tion. She said youths across the coun­try are be­ing ad­verse­ly af­fect­ed by the high rate of crime plagu­ing our so­ci­ety."JCI is a great con­duit for youth en­gage­ment and work­ing to­geth­er. We can con­tribute to our so­ci­ety in mean­ing­ful, last­ing ways and reach out to those young peo­ple that need a plat­form and a voice," Dick­son said.

A new­ly-elect­ed board of di­rec­tors will al­so work along­side Dick­son to achieve the or­gan­i­sa­tion's mis­sion, which is to pro­vide de­vel­op­ment op­por­tu­ni­ties that em­pow­er young peo­ple to cre­ate pos­i­tive change.JCI World pres­i­dent Chiara Mi­lani is ex­pect­ed on a four-day vis­it to T&T on March 25-28.
