Lisa Dickson is the new president of Junior Chamber International (JCI), aka Jaycees.And less than a week since taking up the position, the Scotiabank employee has already made clear her focus–sustainable development for youths. She noted her theme for 2013 is One Person, One Action, One Organisation ... Making a Difference.
In her address following her appointment, the 25-year-old St Augustine native called on members of the organisation to reach out to the youths of the nation. She said youths across the country are being adversely affected by the high rate of crime plaguing our society."JCI is a great conduit for youth engagement and working together. We can contribute to our society in meaningful, lasting ways and reach out to those young people that need a platform and a voice," Dickson said.
A newly-elected board of directors will also work alongside Dickson to achieve the organisation's mission, which is to provide development opportunities that empower young people to create positive change.JCI World president Chiara Milani is expected on a four-day visit to T&T on March 25-28.
