Many teenage girls aren't aware what sex­u­al of­fences are, a fe­male po­lice of­fi­cer said yes­ter­day while com­ment­ing on the sex­u­al as­sault of a 14-year-old school child.On Sat­ur­day, a Rousil­lac teenag­er re­port­ed to Oropouche po­lice al­most a year af­ter the in­ci­dent oc­curred that she was held down, stripped and had oral sex per­formed on her by a home­less man.

In fact, she was as­sault­ed by the man three times in 2012 and it was on­ly dur­ing a con­ver­sa­tion with her moth­er on Fri­day night at their Aripero home that she broke her si­lence on the or­deal.The of­fi­cer said most girls un­der­stand that rape oc­curs when they are forced to have sex, but do not know be­ing touched in­de­cent­ly is a sex­u­al of­fence.A re­port said that around 8.30 am on Sat­ur­day, the vic­tim, who is a stu­dent at a Fyz­abad sec­ondary school, went to the po­lice sta­tion with her 35-year-old moth­er and re­port­ed she had been as­sault­ed by a home­less man she knew.

The in­ci­dents hap­pened be­tween Jan­u­ary and Feb­ru­ary, Oc­to­ber and No­vem­ber and De­cem­ber 2012.On each oc­ca­sion, she was out­side her house dis­pos­ing of garbage when her at­tack­er dragged her in­to an aban­doned house, just two lots away from where she lives.Po­lice said the child is to be med­ical­ly ex­am­ined to­mor­row by DMO Dr Car­mona. Mean­while the sus­pect re­mains at large up to yes­ter­day.
