Oropouche West MP Sta­cy Roop­nar­ine has com­mend­ed the man­age­ment of re­li­gious or­gan­i­sa­tions for con­tin­u­ing to en­gage peo­ple in prayer, in par­tic­u­lar.In a me­dia re­lease to the T&T Guardian Roop­nar­ine said re­li­gion played a key role in en­sur­ing that young peo­ple de­vel­op dis­ci­pline and were guid­ed on to a path of good­ness and pos­i­tive be­hav­iour.

Roop­nar­ine went on a marathon tour of 21 tem­ples in her con­stituen­cy on Sat­ur­day night to bring greet­ings to Hin­dus who cel­e­brat­ed the fes­ti­val of Ma­ha Shiv­ra­tri.The min­is­ter in the Min­istry of Works and in­fra­struc­ture vis­it­ed tem­ples in Pe­nal, Debe, San Fran­cique, Wood­land, La Ro­maine, La For­tune, Ram­bert Vil­lage and Siparia where she par­tic­i­pat­ed in de­vo­tion and prayer with the re­spec­tive con­gre­ga­tions.

Roop­nar­ine said it was her hope Lord Shi­va, the Hin­du de­ity known as The De­stroy­er, would con­tin­ue to de­stroy evil in the lives of devo­tees and al­so guide and pro­tect all in the path of right­eous­ness.She said since she be­came MP for Oropouche West, she start­ed the tra­di­tion and it was her third year in vis­it­ing the tem­ples on the oc­ca­sion of Shiv­ra­tri.
