Oropouche West MP Stacy Roopnarine has commended the management of religious organisations for continuing to engage people in prayer, in particular.In a media release to the T&T Guardian Roopnarine said religion played a key role in ensuring that young people develop discipline and were guided on to a path of goodness and positive behaviour.
Roopnarine went on a marathon tour of 21 temples in her constituency on Saturday night to bring greetings to Hindus who celebrated the festival of Maha Shivratri.The minister in the Ministry of Works and infrastructure visited temples in Penal, Debe, San Francique, Woodland, La Romaine, La Fortune, Rambert Village and Siparia where she participated in devotion and prayer with the respective congregations.
Roopnarine said it was her hope Lord Shiva, the Hindu deity known as The Destroyer, would continue to destroy evil in the lives of devotees and also guide and protect all in the path of righteousness.She said since she became MP for Oropouche West, she started the tradition and it was her third year in visiting the temples on the occasion of Shivratri.
