4 of­fi­cers ar­rest­ed for mur­der

An act­ing po­lice in­spec­tor as­signed to the San Juan Mu­nic­i­pal Po­lice Sta­tion, along with three Spe­cial Re­serve Po­lice of­fi­cers, has been de­tained in con­nec­tion with the kid­nap­ping and sus­pect­ed mur­der of a Mal­oney man.The T&T Guardian con­firmed the four were de­tained last Fri­day by North­ern Di­vi­sion po­lice.The se­nior of­fi­cer has 23 years' ser­vice and was said to be in his ear­ly 40s, while the SRPs are said to be in their 20s.

The four have been kept at var­i­ous sta­tions, in­clud­ing Arou­ca, Pin­to Road, Tu­na­puna and Cen­tral since they were de­tained, and are be­ing ro­tat­ed dai­ly.Sources con­firmed one of the SRPs had been placed un­der sui­cide watch, af­ter he tried to take his life on the week­end.The T&T Guardian learnt that po­lice led by ACP Wayne Dick and Snr Supt David Abra­ham con­verged on the San Juan Mu­nic­i­pal Po­lice Sta­tion on March 14 and seized an un­marked po­lice ve­hi­cle, firearms and oth­er items.

Foren­sic and DNA tests were ex­pect­ed to be done as in­ves­ti­ga­tions con­tin­ue.Al­though po­lice are yet to ap­proach the Di­rec­tor of Pub­lic Pros­e­cu­tions for in­struc­tions, the T&T Guardian was in­formed that act­ing Po­lice Com­mis­sion­er Stephen Williams was set to meet with se­nior of­fi­cers yes­ter­day to dis­cuss the is­sue. Calls to Williams' cell­phone went unan­swered.
