Men held in disappearance of Rousillac mom released
Two suspects who were held in connection with the disappearance of missing Rousillac mother Patricia Rachael Mohammed were released by homicide and anti-kidnapping detectives yesterday. Investigators said although the men were released, they were confident of finding Mohammed, who has not been seen or heard from since rushing out of her Rumstill Road home on March 19.
According to Mohammed’s mother Annie, it has been hard on her since the missing woman, aged 29, is her only child. She now has to care for five of her six grandchildren, including one-year-old toddler Aleem Mohammed. As she held her grandchildren yesterday, she said: “I just heard a voice and the children said she walked out to the junction and that was it.
“I haven’t seen or heard from her since and when I called the number that she gave me someone else answers the phone and said that Patricia does not have it any more. “If she goes out, she will come back in the night. She does not stay away for so long because of the baby. “Her baby is a year and two months and he is breastfeeding. The oldest boy stays with his grandfather in Marabella, but the rest stay with me.”
Annie believes her daughter’s life of abuse may be connected to her disappearance. She said Mohammed had to move back home after a male relative made threats to her life. She said even during pregnancy with Aleem, the man continued to beat her. “He is accustomed beating her. He beat her and kicked her in the road and threatened to stab her. He even beat her when her belly was big, slapped her around and made her fall in the road.”
Annie said she was hopeful that her daughter would return home soon, but friends and family said they had not heard from her since she went missing. “I really can't say what happened because it is really suspicious to me and she never went missing before. “But I have to cope some how, because it is five of them I have to see about.”
Police are asking anyone with information to contact the Oropouche police at 677 – 7544. Mohammed is said to be slim-built, brown in complexion, five-foot four-inches tall, has shoulder-length hair and bears a tattoo of a rose on her back.
