A 68-year-old Penal carpenter suffered an excruciating death on Monday after falling close to 20 feet to the ground while working on a rooftop.Doctors at the Siparia District Health Facility where Baboolal Khadoo was pronounced dead said he suffered a massive cardiac arrest after the fall.An autopsy was carried out at the San Fernando Mortuary yesterday, but to late evening investigators were yet to receive a report.
According the police, Khadoo, who lived along the ten-mile mark of the Penal Rock Road, was working at a house at Goodman Trace, Penal, when the accident occurred.Police said around 9.30 am, while removing wooden rafters from the rooftop, Khadoo lost his balance and plummeted two stories to the concrete ground.
Workers on the house said Khadoo was bleeding heavily through his nose and was taken to the health centre via the Emergency Health Service ambulance.Doctors said Khadoo complained about severe chest pains minutes before he died.Acting Cpl Baptiste is continuing inquiries.
