National Security Minister Jack Warner is expected to answer another question today about the New Flying Squad Investigative Unit (NFSIU).The question, on the order paper for this afternoon's sitting of the House of Representatives, was filed by MP for Laventille East/Morvant Donna Cox.Last month, Warner answered a similar question in the Senate posed by Opposition Senator Fitzgerald Hinds.
Warner told a public meeting of the United National Congress on Monday he had already answered 33 questions on the subject and would give a similar response in Parliament today.Cox wants Warner to say if he was aware the National Security Operations Centre (NSOC) had facilitated the establishment of the crime-fighting unit, referred to as the NFSIU.She also wants to know if Warner had instructed officials to liaise/talk/meet with anyone to establish the unit.
Warner has repeatedly denied knowledge of any new flying squad, which was set up by Mervyn Cordner, a former member of the original Flying Squad. The sitting is set to begin at 1.30 pm.
