The St George East Licensing Committee will visit three Woodbrook establishments–Rossco's, La Habana and Tequila Twist–today. That decision was announced by head of the committee, Senior Magistrate Annette Mc Kenzie, during the licensing session in the Port-of-Spain Fourth Court yesterday. She made the decision after consulting other committee members and attorneys representing the bar owners and objectors.
Enduring a two-and-a-half-hour session during which Senior Counsel Dana Seetahal, who represented Rossco's owner, Ross Milne, and Ravi Rajcoomar, who represents Woodbrook residents Alyson Myers, Francis Joseph and Jacqueline Clifton, Mc Kenzie hopes today's visit can end the pending licence renewals hearing next Thursday.Seetahal stressed that in the event an interim licence was granted, aggrieved residents could later file a complaint.
Mc Kenzie responded that following his application last year, residents withdrew their complaints after Milne promised to deliver on certain promises but never did, hence the current impasse.Mc Kenzie later informed Kurt Ho Hing, of Tequila Twist, and Milne the committee would visit the site today at both businesses, as well as La Habana, and requested the objectors in all applications be available to point out where their homes were situated.
Just before the court was dismissed, Seetahal informed the magistrate Milne would be using the premises over the weekend to host a family lime and that no alcohol would be sold. The matters were later adjourned to April 25.Also present in court yesterday was Port-of-Spain Mayor Louis Lee Sing and Woodbrook councillor Cleveland Garcia.
Rossco's, La Habana, Tequila Twist and Frankie's Restaurant and Bar have remained closed for the past four weeks.Mc Kenzie will also address Frankie's owner, Chrisanto Horsham's, application on Thursday as well.
