Limers at a San Fernando bar were forced to scamper for safety on Friday night when a gunman opened fire on an ex-murder suspect.Mon Repos police reported that Ralph "Gaper" Sobers, 37, of Pleasantville Avenue, Pleasantville, was standing in front of the bar at the corner of Bertrand Street and Navet Road, Mon Repos, when a person he knew walked up to him.Eyewitnesses said that Sobers and the man were engaged in a heated argument when his attacker whipped out a gun and shot him in the mouth.
The gunman walked away while Sobers ran to a house along Navet Road, where the occupants contacted the police following which officers responded and took him to the San Fernando General Hospital.Sobers remained hospitalised up to yesterday.Officers including Snr Supt Cecil Santana, ASP Zamsheed Mohammed along with members of the San Fernando CID, Southern Division Task Force and Crime Scene Unit responded and searched the area for the suspect, who could not be found.
Investigators have interviewed several people but are yet to establish any leads into the shooting.Ag WSgt Ann Marie Mac Dowell is continuing inquiries.
