Limers at a San Fer­nan­do bar were forced to scam­per for safe­ty on Fri­day night when a gun­man opened fire on an ex-mur­der sus­pect.Mon Re­pos po­lice re­port­ed that Ralph "Gaper" Sobers, 37, of Pleas­antville Av­enue, Pleas­antville, was stand­ing in front of the bar at the cor­ner of Bertrand Street and Navet Road, Mon Re­pos, when a per­son he knew walked up to him.Eye­wit­ness­es said that Sobers and the man were en­gaged in a heat­ed ar­gu­ment when his at­tack­er whipped out a gun and shot him in the mouth.

The gun­man walked away while Sobers ran to a house along Navet Road, where the oc­cu­pants con­tact­ed the po­lice fol­low­ing which of­fi­cers re­spond­ed and took him to the San Fer­nan­do Gen­er­al Hos­pi­tal.Sobers re­mained hos­pi­talised up to yes­ter­day.Of­fi­cers in­clud­ing Snr Supt Ce­cil San­tana, ASP Zamsheed Mo­hammed along with mem­bers of the San Fer­nan­do CID, South­ern Di­vi­sion Task Force and Crime Scene Unit re­spond­ed and searched the area for the sus­pect, who could not be found.

In­ves­ti­ga­tors have in­ter­viewed sev­er­al peo­ple but are yet to es­tab­lish any leads in­to the shoot­ing.Ag WS­gt Ann Marie Mac Dow­ell is con­tin­u­ing in­quiries.
