The chairman of the Congress of the People, Public Administration Minister Carolyn Seepersad-Bachan, says when the party's constitution is amended, Sport Minister Anil Roberts and other members of the party will have to account. She said failure to do so would result in the member or members not being allowed to wear the party's logo. She spoke in a brief telephone interview yesterday.
Seepersad-Bachan said the issue of discipline was not about her but about upholding the party's principles. The party constitution is expected to be ratified next month and she said yesterday when that was done the COP would take action against errant members.Responding to a claim from Roberts on Monday about dissatisfied constituents in San Fernando West, which she represents, she said she was happy they were seeking assistance from him.
She noted that constituents from other constituencies also came to her for assistance but there was protocol for such matters. She said it was not appropriate to breach protocol and speak out on such matters but San Fernando West would be very happy if Roberts could do what was necessary to ensure a sports ground was provided for the students at San Fernando Central Secondary School.
Seepersad-Bachan said facilities were required at the Bel Air grounds play park, Roy Joseph basketball court and at Carlton Lane, San Fernando.
