Ian Alleyne reappeared in court today on one charge of resisting arrest.
Alleyne is the host of the popular Crime Watch television programme, which airs on CNC3.
The charge stemmed from an alleged offence arising out of his arrest on April 19, 2012. Four days after his arrest, Alleyne was placed on $80,000 bail on one charge that he resisted the arrest of Sergeant Ajith Persad, as well as three other charges under the Sexual Offences Act.
The three other offences related to the airing of a video that identified an under-age rape victim on national television. The video was aired on the Caribbean Communications Network (CCN) TV6 on October 24, 25 and 26, 2011. Alleyne was charged under Section 32 (2) which makes it an offence to reveal the identity of a rape victim during a broadcast.
On March 19, Alleyne was fined $30,000 after being found guilty of the three charges under the Sexual Offences Act.
However, he maintained his not guilty plea on the resisting arrest charge, and today reappeared on that charge before Port of Spain Magistrate Annette McKenzie.
The magistrate adjusted Alleyne's bail to $20,000. The matter is adjourned to June 7.
