Explosives were found at a house at Gatwell Avenue, Pinto Road, Arima, on Saturday.Four detonating devices and 12 pounds of explosives were discovered by the police.A 31-year-old mechanic was up to late yesterday assisting the police with investigations.A report said around 4.30 pm, officers Insp Wayne Baptiste and a team of officers from the Arima CID executed a search warrant at a house and found the items.
Investigators said the items, which were partially labelled in Spanish, were used for quarrying. A suspect is expected to appear before an Arima magistrate today.Meanwhile, a 35-year-old man will appear before a Port-of-Spain magistrate charged with possession of firearms, ammunition and marijuana for the purpose of trafficking.
Thirty-five packs of marijuana, a firearm, a ski mask and an assortment of ammunition were discovered at his house at Essaw Road, El Socorro, on Saturday.In an unrelated incident, the police are seeking the public assistance in identifying the body of a man found on Saturday at Santa Rosa Park, Arima. The head was found shortly after 6 am close to a car park and the body was later found off Spring Road Extension, Carapo.
