Ex­plo­sives were found at a house at Gatwell Av­enue, Pin­to Road, Ari­ma, on Sat­ur­day.Four det­o­nat­ing de­vices and 12 pounds of ex­plo­sives were dis­cov­ered by the po­lice.A 31-year-old me­chan­ic was up to late yes­ter­day as­sist­ing the po­lice with in­ves­ti­ga­tions.A re­port said around 4.30 pm, of­fi­cers In­sp Wayne Bap­tiste and a team of of­fi­cers from the Ari­ma CID ex­e­cut­ed a search war­rant at a house and found the items.

In­ves­ti­ga­tors said the items, which were par­tial­ly la­belled in Span­ish, were used for quar­ry­ing. A sus­pect is ex­pect­ed to ap­pear be­fore an Ari­ma mag­is­trate to­day.Mean­while, a 35-year-old man will ap­pear be­fore a Port-of-Spain mag­is­trate charged with pos­ses­sion of firearms, am­mu­ni­tion and mar­i­jua­na for the pur­pose of traf­fick­ing.

Thir­ty-five packs of mar­i­jua­na, a firearm, a ski mask and an as­sort­ment of am­mu­ni­tion were dis­cov­ered at his house at Es­saw Road, El So­cor­ro, on Sat­ur­day.In an un­re­lat­ed in­ci­dent, the po­lice are seek­ing the pub­lic as­sis­tance in iden­ti­fy­ing the body of a man found on Sat­ur­day at San­ta Rosa Park, Ari­ma. The head was found short­ly af­ter 6 am close to a car park and the body was lat­er found off Spring Road Ex­ten­sion, Cara­po.
