Public Administration Minister Carolyn Seepersad-Bachan said yesterday there must be concern over the revelations by Opposition Leader Dr Keith Rowley in Parliament yesterday.During his contribution in a no -confidence motion debate against the Prime Ministe , Rowley read some 31 e-mails, allegedly involving high-ranking government officials, and sent following the early proclamation of the Administration of Justice (Indictable Proceedings) Bill 2011.
In immediate responses to Rowley's allegations, Persad-Bissessar and Attorney General Anand Ramlogan both said the e-mails were fabricated. In a brief comment to the media in Parliament yesterday, Seepersad-Bachan said: "There will always be concerns but we have to be sure there is truth in the process."She said it was very easy to fabricate e-mails, but "it is something to be concerned about".
"But at this time there is no evidence of any truth in it," Seepersad-Bachan said. She said she was certain the matter would be investigated to determine the veracity of the allegations.
National Security Adviser to the Prime Minister Gary Griffith also denied sending any e-mail to cabinet ministers about the Section 34 matter.Griffith described Rowley's claims as "the diaries of a madman."
